Carol become the CEO of the KZN Film Commission in October 2013. Being the first employee she was required to set the strategic foundation and establish the business.

Prior to that Carol headed up the Accounts, Industry and Business Development Department (AIBD) as an associate director at EY in KZN. Her role included supporting companies develop their strategies into Africa through the use of the Growing Beyond Borders Tool, building the KZN business and project managing public sector assignments.

Steven & Carole WylieCarol held the position of HOD and Accounting Officer for Department of Economic Development and Tourism in KZN for 5 years until 2011. In this executive position she was responsible for a R1,6B budget with governance and oversight of 9 public entities including Ithala, DTP, Trade and Investment, Toursim KZN. Also chaired the Economic Development and infrastructure Cluster in the province. Other tasks in this role included the establishment of Economic Planning Component in the Department, with key focus on economic research, policy formulation and monitoring and evaluation in the department ; the development of critical economic strategies for the province e.g. export and investment strategy and presentation on economic statistics ; participation at international forums in promoting the province and engaging with inbound investors ; reviewed and presented economic research and strategies to Cabinet and Lekgotla ; development of various policies in the province including procurement policy whilst at Treasury ; implemented systems to monitor and evaluate the department’s performance against it’s performance indicators ; compiled

and presented reports to various levels of stakeholders on a multi-tude of economic development subjects ; and organisational restructuring and financial and operational policies and systems.

Prior to this, she was the Accountant-General and Accounting Officer for KZN Provincial Treasury for 6 years. As the Deputy-Director-General she was involved in driving financial management reforms post PFMA promulgation including the investment of public funds totalling R2billion on a weekly basis. Reform included CFO structures, SCM and Asset management, new accounting systems and financial statements, representing the province at the ASB – Developed SCM Policy dealing with B-BBEE.

Carol was a Senior Consultant to Public Sector at E&Y PMB, and her tasks included Project management of multi-million national programmes in provincial government departments such as the school nutrition programme and the Local government elections in a regional council in capacity as financial manager.

As an Auditor at the Auditor-General she worked in all public sector institution audits including initiating performance auditing and introduction of Team-mate auditing software.
