Ellis Perez is recognized as one of the main pioneers of tourism of the Dominican Republic. He started working for the travel agency Southerland Tours of the Caribbean back in the fifties. In the early sixties he was a Cruise Director for Eastern Steamship Corporation sailing out of the ports of Miami, Florida and Washington, D.C. cruising

to Bermuda and the islands of the Caribbean. Back in Santo Domingo, Ellis Perez became Director of the Dominican Tourist Information Center. Later he went to New York as Director of the Dominican Tourist Information Center, as well as Minister Counselor of the Dominican Permanent Mission to the United Nations. President Antonio Guzman named Ellis Perez Minister of Tourism in 1981.

The private sector called upon him and made him the founding President of the Dominican Tourism Promotion Council. He was from 2000 to 2004 Tourism Counselor to the President as well as to the Senate of the Dominican Republic. He is presently Director at Large of CHA (Caribbean Hotel Association). He has received several national and international awards.

Ellis Perez group shotEllis Perez is very well known as a radio an television personality in the Dominican Republic since 1953, beginning with the American music radio program “Your Hit Parade”, later becoming a broadcaster as the owner of Radio Universal with which he began to follow the careers of the Dominican baseball players that excelled in the major leagues such as Juan Marichal, the Alou brothers, Julian Javier, Rico Carthy, Jose Rijo and Sammy Sosa among others. He also served as ABC NEWS local correspondent for a span of 25 years. Locally he began his television career in 1967. He was Director of Communications for AERODOM, the company that under concession manages the international airports of the Dominican government from 2000 to 2006.

Over two years ago, Perez was appointed as President of The Board of CERTV, the radio and television entity of the Dominican government. From 2006 to 2007 he served as Vice President of Commercial and Institutional Relations of Cap Cana, S.A., and as Vice President of Communications and Public Relations from 2007 through 2011. For 7 years he was the conductor of former President Leonel Fernandez weekly television program “Agenda del Presidente” and Film Commisioner of the Dominican Republic since June 2011.
